They Do Exist.

GIVEAWAY: Two Lionhart Posters!

Editor’s Note: Today we are hosting a giveaway by a new organization that is very dear to me: Lionhart. Shannon Douglas, the girl that is behind a majority of our Good Women Project tweets, has been bundling up all of her love and talent to create Lionhart, and these AWESOME posters. I’m so excited to be able to giveaway two of them this week. – Lauren

Whether you’ve experienced abuse, felt empty from a relationship, or believed your body was more wanted than your heart, Lionhart is about awakening bravery and gentleness in a fight against the things that make us feel worthless. They exist as a grassroots movement to empower and encourage young women struggling to know their true worth, and equip them to spread courage and confidence within their own communities.

Whether it’s for your bedroom wall or a friend’s, you can purchase one (or more!) of these Lionhart posters as a reminder of your value and worth every day that you wake up. Even better, with every poster you purchase, they’ll send a note of encouragement to a woman of your choice!

We’ll be giving away two Lionhart posters, starting today! Winners will get to choose their poster from the Spread the Courage and Fearfully & Wonderfully Made designs above. If you want to learn more about spreading the courage within your own community, find ways to help Lionhart at their website here.

Giveaway Rules:

  1. Ahhh! These posters are wonderful, but I believe that "Spread the courage" is my favorite. My roommate painted a mirror with "You are fearfully and wonderfully made" this year. Courage is important to me, as someone who generally lacks it. Oh, email, yes, sahughes@myopera.com

Love the message of both, especially spread the courage. But I would have to say fearfully and wonderfully made is a truth women can never get enough of with so many surrounding voices telling us we are anything but that. Therefore, it wins as my favorite.

I absolutely love these posters and what Lionhart stands for! There’s is definitely a need for what Shannon is doing. Spread the courage is my favorite because it’s a daily reminder to be empowering and empower other women. Never let someone tell you that you aren’t good enough.

I love this concept. I love this idea for an organization. I just love it. My favorite is the "I am fearfully and wonderfully made" one, and gosh, do I sometimes need that in big bold letters in front of me when I get ready for the day–even when you know the verse, it is so easy to lose yourself in what the world defines as "me" rather than WHO I am and who I come from. I think I'll be supporting lionhart in the future :D…this is so dear to my heart and a sad condition of society that I'm so passionate about uncovering as false.

    August 21, 2012 at 10:18 am

  36. First of all, I am in love with the name of this organization but I'm really obsessed with anything "lion" because of my last name.

Second, I am also obsessed with the "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made" poster. The color is great (my favorite actually) but the message is even better and it is something that as a gawky, awkward, middle schooler I clung to 8 years ago and still have to remind myself daily. And what a better way to remind myself daily then this hanging on the bathroom wall in the house I will be living in for my senior year of college!

  101. As a woman who has not only recovered by the grace and mercy of a loving Savior from a detrimental relationship, but also as a woman who has a heart for other women still living in situations much like the one I lived through over six years ago, lionhart and its mission holds a special place in my heart. The poster “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” is a beautiful reminder of what God promises us. We are not worthy on our own, but through Him and Jesus’ sacrifice He has made us worthy. Much more worthy than what many of us are subjected to in relationships these days. I love lionhart and would love to have a poster of theirs in my home…

I realize this is off topic, but please bear with me.

Admittedly, I'm not too familiar with Lionhart, so this is just a quick thought!

"Lionhart is about awakening bravery and gentleness in a fight against the things that make us feel worthless. They exist as a grassroots movement to empower and encourage young women struggling to know their true worth, and equip them to spread courage and confidence within their own communities."

That is good, but "abuse, felt empty from a relationship, or believed your body was more wanted than your heart" is not an experience unique to women. Many men encounter this as well. We don't have much encouragement or support to deal with real issues, heal, or move forward. Instead men are often demonized unjustly, ignored, and told to "suck it up!" Is this how you would treat a woman? Of coarse not! So why the discrepancy?

The real issue – the real demon – is violence and disrespect itself! The enemy is not only men or only women!

There should not be a gender divide on such issues because both sides are equally guilty!
Both sides need maturity, healing, love, respect, encouragement, and support!

I don't want to minimize what Lionhart is doing to help women, but I do believe that many men who encounter similar experiences should be allowed the opportunity to be receive support as well. When organizations attempt to fight domestic violence, sexual crimes, or other atrocities, they should not limit their support to women alone!

I have to say, the "I am fearfully and wonderfully made" is my favorite – which is, really, a little predictable. Regardless! It's a constant battle to keep from giving in to the tiny whispers of insecurity and the comparisons you make between yourself and those around you, but the truth is – there's always going to be someone prettier, nicer, taller, shorter, skinnier, curvier, paler, tanner, smarter, funnier, etc. It's a battle that I've learned to keep under control, but it is still a beautiful sign of a woman's identity in Christ. I love it. Not only for myself, but for everyone else as well. I love them! I might buy more regardless of who wins! :3

"I am fearfully and wonderfully made"! I Think this is the perfect little mantra to say every time you wake up or are feeling a little down in the dumps! This is great for college girls such as myself, because college can be such a rough time of stress and bad eating and sometimes something as simple as a poster can lift your spirits a bit.

    What a splendid give away!!
